Debate Olympics 2024The assessment, conducted in 2022, evaluated the creative thinking abilities of 15-year-old students. Unfortunately, the Philippines scored an average of 14 points, which was second to the lowest next to Albania.This news was the reason that SICAC initiated actions responding to this learning gap. Since the launch of the Debate Curriculum for Grades 6-10 ,the Annual SICAC Debate Olympics has pushed the continuous development of providing creative placements for students’ learning experiences in the areas of Communication Skill and Current Events' Awareness.English and Filipino are spoken languages and the best creative practice of it , is to use it, in an intellectual discussion over certain local or international issues affecting the society. And this is where AP ( Araling Panlipiunan ) gets in, as the focus of social issue discussion.Because of the gravity of effort made to thoroughly discuss every proposition or topic assigned to each group, from gathering resources through research, interviews, essay writings which contain their constructive speeches, critical thinking and reasoning during interpellations, this activity will be the 2nd Quarterly Exams in Filipino, English and AP for Grade 6 - 10 students.Following the Oxford-Oregon formal debate format, we present with pride this year’s Debate Olympics for Grades 6-10!Everyone is invited to witness the battle of critical and creative thinking in TBH (Teacher Beth’s Hall.)
